Georgia on our minds

The Tigers and the Crimson Tide meet up in Atlanta before the big game.

As the Mizzou and University of Alabama football teams gear up for Saturday's big bout in Atlanta, Tigers coach Gary Pinkel has been reunited with an old teammate. Pinkel and Nick Saban, Alabama's coach, played on the same team at Kent State, under the direction of coach Don James, who died last year at age 80 after a long career coaching the Washington Huskies. Pinkel and Saban are among the winningest active coaches in college football, with a combined 361 wins (185 for Pinkel, 176 for Saban).

Tigers fans in Atlanta this weekend for the SEC Championship game are getting their fill of pregame revelry, with lunches, parties, rallies, tailgates and the SEC Football Legends ceremony, where Mizzou alumnus Kellen Winslow, BES ’87, was honored on the eve of the big game.

The Tigers take on the Crimson Tide at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Georgia Dome. If you're in Atlanta, check out the pregame events and watch parties. If you aren't, watch the game on CBS.
