The University of Missouri Department of Physics and Astronomy hosts a club for astronomy enthusiasts led by astrophysics professor Angela Speck. Stardust Group members include undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and postdoctoral fellows. They study stars. They study dust. They publish research about topics such as far-IR emission in the central zone of the helix nebula and the astromineralogy of the 13-micron feature in the spectra of oxygen-rich AGB stars. And sometimes they dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters and have light saber battles on the roof of the Physics Building.
