More than 5,570 Tigers earned degrees during May commencement exercises at the University of Missouri. Mizzou awarded 6,185 degrees (with some students earning more than one), including 4,413 bachelor’s degrees, 1,068 master’s degrees, 334 doctorates, 123 law degrees, 114 veterinary medicine degrees, 99 medicine degrees and 34 education-specialist degrees. More than 350 students from 32 states and three countries graduated from Mizzou Online. Susan Golden, PhD ’83, a leading expert in bacterial genetics and circadian rhythm, earned an honorary degree.

Standard Missouri weather — a mix of rain, sun, clouds, warm temperatures and chilly winds, occurring at random intervals — greeted graduates and guests as they moved among campus icons (Francis Quadrangle, Tiger Plaza, Traditions Plaza) and commencement venues (Mizzou Arena, Jesse Auditorium, Hearnes Center).

Graduates wore new Mizzou-theme gowns, and Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin tried out a new bowtie, in official Mizzou paisley, under his regalia.
