A Springfield, Mo., native, Karrington grew up in a family with a deep-rooted love for Mizzou and season tickets to football and basketball games. She and her family visited Columbia for home games.

“I saw how Mizzou welcomed alumni back to campus with open arms and how students interacted with each other,” Scott said. “Despite the large size of campus, it never felt too vast or overwhelming. It's always felt like a little sliver of home and familiarity.”

Scott said that Mizzou has provided her with numerous opportunities to grow in so many areas. She joined a Greek chapter that showed her how to be a part of a community that strengthened her leadership skills through her work in several organizations such as Outreach, the Missouri Student Association and The Hope Project.

“One of my best memories so far at Mizzou has been Tiger Walk,” Scott said. “It was a day full of nerves as my family left me, and I prepared to face the challenges that I knew college would bring. Somehow, I felt comfortable and confident being surrounded by thousands of other students my age who were starting their journey here. I knew I'd see them again on the Quad as seniors as we run through the Columns and into our lives after Mizzou.”

She said that new students should utilize the incredible resources and opportunities on campus that often go unnoticed and under-appreciated and remarked that students should tailor their experiences to fit their goals.
