Ethan Illers is gaining hands on experience working in radio while at MU.

The transition from moving from New York City to Columbia would be difficult for most people but for Ethan Illers, coming to Mizzou was a welcomed change. Missouri, his dad’s home state, always had a place in his heart. He chose Mizzou because of its well-respected journalism school and has been proud of his decision ever since.

As a student journalist, Illers has gained hands on experience through many different experiences such as anchoring for KOMU. His favorite experience so far is working with the student radio station, KCOU. At KCOU, he got the opportunity to travel to a Mizzou football game against the University of Florida and experience the game from the press box.

Illers’ advice for prospective Mizzou students is to always remain driven and network. “Find and establish connections,” he said. “Don’t ever be afraid to reach out. You never know what will happen until you try.”
