Jan. 17, 2018

With the peak of an especially severe flu season upon us, it’s more important than ever that we ensure faculty, staff and students are taking steps to protect the university community.

According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, more than 17,000 cases of influenza have been confirmed in Missouri since Oct. 1, 2017. This is many more than in recent years. Since flu season lasts from September through March, these numbers will most certainly increase.

If you are ill, it is important to stay home and avoid contact with others for as long as you have a fever. Remember to report your absence in accordance with the policies and procedures for your college, school or division.

MU Health Care officials share additional tips to protect yourself and others in this story.

Let’s work together to make the start of the semester a safe and healthy one!
